Steve Schweer
Head Coach
Steve Schweer begins his fifth season as the head men's basketball coach at Illinois College in 2022-23.
Steve Schweer was officially named the 18th head coach in the history of the Illinois College Blueboys basketball program on April 23, 2018. In 2021-22, his fourth season at the helm, the Blueboys finished the season with a record of 14-11, good for 4th and the Midwest Conference standings. The Blueboys returned to the MWC conference tournament for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. Over the past two seasons the Blueboys have posted an overall record of 21-13. Coach Schweer has recruited and coached student-athletes who have earned a total of 44 all conference nominations, 14 all region nominations, 5 All American nominations, 3 conference player of the year winners, 13 1,000 point scorers, and one 2,000 point scorer.
Schweer is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, where he was a four-year member of the men’s basketball program, winning three CCIW championships and competing in the NCAA Tournament all four years as a player, including advancing to the Final Four in 2006. Coach Schweer is an active NABC member with over 16 years of experience working and directing summer camps.
Luke Duckett
Assistant Coach
Luke Duckett is entering his 2nd Season in 2022-23 as an Assistant Coach with the Illinois College Men’s Basketball Staff. Luke comes to Illinois College from Carroll University where he has spent the last two years serving as an assistant coach.
Prior to Carroll, Luke spent 5 years in Denver Colorado as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Colorado Premier Nike EYBL Basketball Club. During his time in Colorado, Duckett coached the program's top high school travel teams while serving as program's director of recruiting, director of camps, and the coordinator of the Skills Academy. Duckett, a native of Brookfield, Wisconsin, was a former basketball standout at Brookfield Central High School where he also began his coaching career.
Duckett attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire as a basketball recruit and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Mathematics Education, and recently completed his Master's in Adult Education at Carroll University.
